Enders-Salk serves more than 525 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Enders-Salk is an open enrollment school for the English-Spanish dual-language program in School District 54.

Enders-Salk School has a very active Parent Teacher Association offering a myriad of activities and projects for the students at the school. The PTA provides students with many special food and treat days, birthday books, a fun fair, a field day, community service activities and much more. In addition, parents are always invited and encouraged to assist in the classrooms.

Staff at Enders-Salk offer many extracurricular activities and clubs for children including: Leadership Council, Safety Patrols, Spanish, Family Reading, Volleyball, Math Olympiads, Craft, Chef’s Club and Spirit Squad. Before- and after-school childcare is available at Enders-Salk through a partnership with the Schaumburg Park District’s KASPER program.

The school adopted the Peaceable Schools program in 1997. Many staff members have been trained and instruct students in lessons from this program. Additionally, many staff members have been trained in a Quality Schools program. Both these models support teachers as they regularly conduct class meetings with their students so that the students can use the problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills they have been taught. The majority of staff has also been trained and implements the “World of Difference” program, which seeks to teach acceptance of the number of similarities and differences that each of our students and families bring to our school community.

English-Spanish dual-language kindergarten classes began in 2000 at Enders-Salk School. In the 2010-11 school year, Enders-Salk will have dual-language classes available for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The goal of this program is for students to become bilingual, biliterate and bicultural at the end of sixth grade.

A full continuum of special services is available to students in District 54. All children have access to early childhood programs, which are clustered geographically. Each of the elementary schools has gifted resource services, although eligible children can also attend the magnet school at Campanelli.
